In recognition of the critical role caring mentors play in our programming, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore is featured twice in the January 2022 issue of Baltimore’s Child magazine, which centers on the value of mentoring in celebration of National Mentoring Month.
In an op-ed entitled “Do Whatever It Takes,” President and CEO Jeff Breslin reflects on the importance of mentoring saying in part, “A key ingredient in our collective response to disrupt the effects of ACEs, poverty, and the COVID-19 pandemic must include a call for every young person to have access to caring adult mentors.”
In another article titled “The Power of Mentoring,” Brooklyn O'Malley Club Manager Tianda Hendricks reflected on her own experience as a Club kid who benefitted from "the extra help she needed to realize the steps she could take," to achieve her aspirations, and the easy decision to relocate from Washington state last spring in order to return to Boys & Girls Club as Club Manager.
