The mission and impact of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore would not be possible without the dedication of our Board of Directors, comprised of accomplished professionals who commit to a duty of care, loyalty, and obedience over a three-year term. This year, four members of our board were honored with awards based on their outstanding service to the organization.
The Youth Champion Award is awarded to a board member who is fiercely dedicated to and passionate about the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs. Our 2024 Youth Champion Award recipient is Jessica Gappa for having completed a two-year commitment on the National Planning Commission. This group of more than 40 local Boys & Girls Club leaders as well as national staff developed Future Ready, a shared strategic direction for Boys & Girls Clubs moving forward.

The Club Advocate Award highlights a member who goes above and beyond to connect our organization with new resources and opportunities throughout the year. Jamila Webb is the 2024 Club Advocate Award recipient, reflecting her efforts to secure EY, a multinational accounting and consulting firm, as a new corporate partner and to connect her neighbors to BGCMB’s mission via an annual event at her home.

Nik Tatum: 2024 Club Hero Award Recipient
The Club Hero Award is given to someone who has made significant investments in the Boys & Girls Club’s mission through their personal contributions and by inspiring commitments from others in their network and community. Nik Tatum, board chair, is this year’s Club Hero Award recipient in recognition of his incredible personal commitment to our Great Futures Campaign which inspired many of his fellow board members to make similar commitments.
Finally, our Rising Star Award goes to a new board member who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to BGCMB’s mission in only their short time on the board. Andrew Dorsey, who joined the board this past year, was granted our 2024 Rising Star Award for jumping in with both feet on our Finance Committee. He has worked closely alongside our director of finance to develop innovative tools that provide insight to the leadership team and board including new automation to elevate our cash flow and budget to actual analysis.
